Winter Wonderland

I feel a small amount of guilt for having such a great time on the snow day we had Tuesday and one I had hoped for on Wednesday. I know there are many people without power and I shouldn't hope for bad weather just because I want to stay home with my husband and kids when I know it is hard for others out there to endure it. However, I am grateful for my healthy family, my warm home and the good food we have been blessed with. Kagney has been under the weather the last few days with a stomach virus. She woke up this morning and before her eyes were fully open, asked if she would get to go outside and play in the snow. Being a bit of a winter snob, I told her to pester Leonard about it. Almost immediately upon his entrance to the living room, before HIS eyes were even fully open, Kagney gave him full-blown puppy-face and asked if they could go out to play. Of course, Kagney wanted Adam to go too. Before I could get the breakfast dishes off the table, Kagney was up getting her coat and asking for her gloves. Once I gathered all of what she calls "winter equipment", I had to get Adam's together. Naturally, I layered the clothing on both of them, most likely to a point of immobility. I must say, they did both look adorable......I also must say, I have a lot of laundry to do now....I really don't like winter.

Toddlers - 'nuff said

While looking for pictures of the new kitchen to post, I came across a few of Adam "helping" daddy. I must explain Adam is Leonard's shadow. I know it sounds cute and a little cliche, but Adam truly follows Leonard wherever he goes. This became a little trying at times during the kitchen renovation, however Adam did learn how to use a measuring tape, hammer a nail and use a pencil to mark on the walls. Unfortunately we forgot to tell him not to write on the walls after they were painted. Nothing a little magic eraser couldn't handle. The pictures I posted are actually the same day. Leonard was finishing up with the floor and had the cabinets taken away from the wall. This particular cabinet had a recently broken baby-proof hinge. Adam saw this as a perfect opportunity to make a baby man cave and emptied the pots and pans right away. We had a good game of "I see you!" going for at least 20 minutes. After Leonard moved the cabinets back where they belonged (and I restocked them with the pots and pans) Leo needed to complete a small electrical task which included turning the power off to the kitchen. While he was working on the outlet, he heard Adam rustling in the top drawer of the cabinet. Adam does this from time to time and drags out miscellaneous items, like tape or a pencil. This time, he apparently found Sissy's King sized Hershey bar, broke off a couple of pieces and walked quietly around the dark dining room, horking it down as best as he could. When the lights came on, Leonard cracked up... This is validation to me. The kid can sniff out chocolate, even in the dark!

Kitchen (almost) COMPLETE

Thanks to Leonard and his insane ability to function on little to no sleep, out kitchen is almost done after only two weeks! He has torn the walls out and rebuilt them, torn out the ceiling and rebuilt it, torn up and releveled the floor, torn down a partial wall between the kitchen and dining room, hung drywall, new pendant lights, a built in shelf and installed laminate flooring. WOW! I'm trying to find a "before" picture of the kitchen, but of course I wasn't exactly enamoured with it. I actually tried to keep it OUT of the backdrop. I'm sure I can dig one up though. Regardless, I'm very proud of my new kitchen and of my husband.
